The Initiative Foundation
believes the most enduring results are achieved when people
are supported in their own efforts to help themselves. Our
goal is to enable the communities and individuals in those
communities to sustain their own projects themselves.
We expect each community network to be operationally self-funding after
two years (although in some cases that is up to four years).
The process begins with the establishment of the physical network
which is leveraged in many ways to support development and
sustainability.
Over the initial 2-4 year period, ownership of the networks is transferred to the local community as milestones
are reached. We encourage local representatives to use the
network for commercial ends.
Eventually, the network may even become a profit centre, but a certain portion of revenue originating
from these operations will always go towards underwriting
the charitable operations of the local network.
The
Initiative Foundation is a US
non-profit 501(c)3 organization incorporated in the Commonwealth
at Massachusetts in 1999.
